The game begins with a standard mission, the Galaxy-class starship USS Dauntless (NCC-71879) is in orbit of a planet in the Vesuvi system. Captain Wright is onboard a shuttle en route to an orbital research station when the Vesuvi star suddenly goes nova. The resulting shockwave is devastating, destroying the planet's orbital stations and obliterating the Captain's shuttlecraft. The USS Dauntless escapes under impulse power, but sustains damage to her warp nacelles. The ship is towed back to a Federation drydock by an Akira class, and fully repaired by worker bees. The executive officer(the player) is promoted to Captain. Soon the player is joined by Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The ship departs drydock for Starbase 12, the command center for operations in the Maelstrom region. As the game progresses, you and your crew are transferred to the USS Sovereign, the pathfinder of the Sovereign class. The vessel will eventually become a key factor in solving the mystery in the Maelstrom

2nd: Why, just why would you say such a thing? GOG Galaxy is at least as comfortable as Steam, and you can even use it to access your Steam library. On top of that GOG.com does not bother you with DRM. You can actually download and install the games from a stand-alone installer without a client, if you fancy that. No internet activation required. Also, GOG.com takes care of the classic games published there and will keep them compatible on Windows 11 and into the future. The only actual downside is the lack of an integrated modding library like the Steam Workshop.

3) BC_PREPARE.exe will place a file called BC_PREPARE.bat into your Bridge Commander game directory. We found however that this file did not work correctly. You can either open up the file in Notepad and edit it (correct any paths that are wrong) or download our pre-fixed version of the file here and replace the existing file with it. Our hosts have now started demanding we store all batch files inside zip archives, so you will need to download and extract the file.
The Kobayashi Maru mod can be downloaded here. Note that installing the Kobayashi Maru mod will prevent the single player campaign from working correctly. The file is packaged as a 7-zip archive. Just as with the Bridge Commander Universal tool you may need to install the 7-zip program in order to extract it. Installing this mod is easy, simply extract the 7-zip archive to a temporary folder, then copy all the files and folders from the temporary folder into your Bridge Commander game directory. Remember you cannot install Kobayashi Maru and Bridge Commander Super Mod together, so create a fresh working copy from the clean Star Trek Bridge Commander folder if necessary.
Hi, just letting you know that the GameSpy master server has been replaced with 333networks master server. I contacted them and they host for Unreal Tournament and multiple other games that use the same type of master server setup that GameSpy did. So, now you know with a small download we can all play multiplayer games again without doing direct IP, and yes the server list will show games that are being hosted, as long as the host has the proper ports opened.
I have a problem, well lets say 3 related problems.1. one is that neither clean install of the game, nor modded one detects my external NVIDIA GPU, only integrated INTEL one.2. is, that i cant set the resolution of the game into widescreen resolution.3. I can only run the modded game in windowed mode. Setting it to full screen ends up with renderer error saying, that it cant run it in full screen mode.
The game offers a first-person perspective from the captain's chair for a useful view of the 3D bridge and its officers. As in the television shows and movies, the bridge crew is well trained to report pertinent information and await orders. Star Trek: Bridge Commander is designed for compatibility with many contemporary voice-control peripherals, allowing the hardware-equipped player to issue commands by speaking them. The game's story was developed with the help of D.C. Fontana, who wrote four episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and served as an associate producer for the series.
Gameplay centers around the player as the newly-recruited Captain of a damaged vessel, making their way through the mystery of their situation, one waypoint at a time. Players issue orders to the crew, who then perform the actual commands. The voice of "you" is never actually heard in the game, as orders are delivered by clicking on menus that come up on screen when you position the mouse over a specific person's station on the bridge (these menus can also be assigned to keys, eliminating the mouse). Those who are used to the fast paced dogfights of other titles may need a while to become acclimated to the different pace of these bohemoth starships. They don't turn quickly or maneuver like an X-Wing fighter would, and the combat is more of a chess game than an out-and-out dogfight. Particular systems on an enemy's ship can be targeted (shields, weapons, etc) which adds to the depth of the combat greatly. This class of ship does not explode into a ball of fire with one shot, but you can tear off entire chunks and make holes... in some ways, it's more gratifying to cripple than obliterate (I'll have my therapist look into that one). A good starship Captain will also know how to manage his vessel's power distribution, especially after the drain that combat can put on it. Certain systems may need special attention if they become particularly damaged or drained as a result of the melee.
Just in time for Star Trek Day, online video game retailer GOG.com has revealed that six classic Star Trek computer games are now available to download. This marks the first time these games are available on a modern video game storefront.
The Enterprise D can be used in any of the existing Ongoing Voyages modes, plus the two new modes. Players appear in authentic TNG uniforms when on this bridge, and experience the full audiovisual treatment to make everything look and sound like the TNG show.
Excalibur breaks the mold of traditional space simulation games by putting the player firmly in the boots of an experienced Starfleet captain. From the outset you will be able to control your character and command your ship as if you were standing on the bridge yourself.
Star Trek: Bridge Commander offers some cameos from beloved characters like Captain Picard and Commander Data but, for the most part, it's an individual story within the Star Trek universe. It revolves around a newly promoted captain who's been assigned to investigate an explosion of a star. You take command of the U.S.S. Dauntless as well as the U.S.S. Sovereign. The game is focused on ship based combat, much like Starfleet Command III, but it's a bit more accessible making it ideal for everyone who simply wants to feel in control of a Federation ship. You can interact with members of the bridge crew before opting to take the lead via the combat simulation screen. It's an older game but one that's aged well, providing some great combat sequences that make you feel truly part of something bigger than yourself.
A lot of Star Trek games are reasonably serious. Star Trek: Trexels II isn't one of those games. Instead, it's gloriously casual friendly in nature. You take command of a federation ship before embarking on some fairly lightweight missions as you collect up all your favorite characters and build upon your ship's success. Predictably, Star Trek: Trexels II is a mobile game that's free to play with options to buy extra content. It's the ideal game to dip into during a break from work as you can complete a mission in the space of a few minutes. It uses characters from all of the Star Trek universe and it's delightfully charming at times, even if it is very simple. If you're not a huge gamer but you're keen to try, this is the game for you.
The oldest game here, Star Trek: Judgment Rites features the Original Series cast in a series of episodic adventures. You control Captain Kirk as you talk it out with Spock, McCoy and the rest of the crew, before embarking on away team missions that can spark some combat sequences along the way. Part adventure, part action, it's a great way of feeling part of The Original Series and far too few games embrace the original days of Star Trek in such a way. The full principal cast is included here and it also features the last time that DeForest Kelley plays McCoy. Best of all, each episodic story is suitably entertaining and captures the spirit of The Original Series well. It may be tricky to track down nowadays but it's a worthwhile endeavor.

Star Trek: Bridge Commander is a heavily-modifiable video game. A number of "mod teams" have altered or improved the game's graphics, characters, and missions, while adding new vessels, bridges, and technologies. One such modification, NanoFX2, was featured in the August 2004 edition of PC Gamer, [1] and few recent reviews of Star Trek: Bridge Commander go without mentioning the still-thriving mod community. [2] The game also has mods of ships from other series such as Stargate, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Andromeda, etc. 2ff7e9595c
